This revealed a necessity to improve both information gathering and dissemination of weather data in the country. Information regarding rainfall — a major element that influences the vulnerability of a community to flooding — is vital for contingency planning and disaster management. The researchers aim to address this need through developing an effective location-based real-time rainfall monitoring application available through mobile devices and browsers which requires the use of interpolation methods to estimate unavailable rainfall data.
